Located at an elevation of about 11,811 feet (3,600 meters) above sea level, La Paz is a beautiful city of contrasts. La Paz, Bolivia sits in a valley in the Andes Mountain range. La Paz, Bolivia is one of the last undiscovered travel destinations in South America. It is the worlds highest capital city and sits in the Altiplano region of Bolivia. You’ll find many things to do and see around the city. The drive down from the airport of El Alto is something you’ll never forget. You go around on bumpy roads on a very new and chaotic city. Soon the ground suddenly slopes down and the breathtaking valley of La Paz unfolds before you. It is especially breathtaking at night when millions of lights fill the canyon and crawl up the sides of the mountains. Nothing can prepare you for the city, you will be surrounded by new sights, sounds, and smells. The city is a mix of past and present thrown together. It is like stepping into a different world. The city maintains its authentic traditional roots of Andean culture. You’ll see women and men walking around wearing colorful traditional indigenous clothing. While you will find the city to be a bustling city of commerce, you’ll see skyscrapers, suited businessmen, busy traffic and tourists. The city has a variety of both adventurous and cultural activities, including various museums that showcase the rich and diverse culture.
