The Save the Children Benefit Jazz Concert on October 25th highlighted the ACS Middle School and High School Jazz Bands, the 8th Grade and HS Concert Bands, and the guest appearance of the Big Band Bolivia. The purpose of the concert was to raise money for the organization Save the Children-Bolivia while showcasing our ACS students and local professionals.. The concert raised nearly $300 for this local organization and our High School Jazz Band students look forward to working with them throughout the rest of the school year.

Our ACS students performed one of the best concerts of the past two years. The concert opened with an arrangement of several big band pieces entitled "Big Band Signatures". The MS Jazz Band performed "Jamin" with Charlie" after only six rehearsals for this newly formed ensemble. Five of the Middle School students took the brave step into improvisational soloing. The audience was blown away by their sound after such a short preparation time. The HS Jazz Band, a newly formed class this year, which meets only twice a week, performed five pieces including popular charts such as "Theme from Family Guy" and the classic "Sing, Sing, Sing". These nineteen students performed to such a high level that the theater was filled with an amazing energy never seen before from this group. The concert closed with the guest performance by Big Band Bolivia. The students, teachers, and parents were clapping, moving, and cheering from their seats. The evening was a fantastic experience for all!
