During the Environmental Science/ Outdoor Education (ESOE) class Opening Campfire, students participated in teambuilding initiative games, learned to build a campfire and use camp stoves, cooked chorizo and s'mores, learned astronomy, and played and sang music. It was a great experience for both the students and staff chaperones who attended, and it took place in an amazing setting--above the Palca Canyon where we could watch the alpenglow on Illimani, Mururata, and Huayana Potosi (all snow-covered peaks in the Cordillera Real). - Fred Hollingworth
