High School Philosophy and Mission

Basic Philosophy
We believe that the American Cooperative School should provide for all students a quality education in the English language representative of that found in the United States. Also, we believe that the American Cooperative School should be preparing students to enter college or university programs. We further believe that the school should provide its multinational student body with an appreciation of the diverse cultures represented by its members, with a special emphasis on knowledge and understanding of Bolivian culture and history and the Spanish language.

We recognize that quality education consists of many elements, including the following: academic development, character development and values education, a program of physical fitness, activities to foster a sense of responsibility toward community, the formation of friendships including those across cultures, and a code of conduct which instills self-respect, self-discipline, and honesty. Underlying the total program should be a recognition of individual differences. A program combining these elements should prepare students from the American Cooperative School for college and university programs and for a constructive role in a democratic society.

Mission Statement
The American Cooperative School of La Paz, Bolivia, in cooperation with our community, will strive for excellence in education, promote life long learning, ensure an atmosphere in which students can reach their full potential, be sensitive to multi-cultural settings, and be adaptable and responsible citizens in a changing world.
