Game Design was one of the most entertaining modules to do this semester.  "Why?" is probably what you’re asking.  The reason why, is because it is a module based on high amounts of creativity, and VIDEO GAMES!!  (Well ok actually just one video game).  This video game is Marathon Infinity.  Even though the game is old, it is still a challenging first person shooter game.  The best part about this module is that I would have to work together with a partner (who was new to video games) and create the ultimate multiplayer map for this game.  Using free software called forge we created a map, which would support many types of game play and up to 8 players.  This project though, fun and innovative does have some annoying problems that can turn up with almost any body new to the map building program forge.  One problem that my partner and I ran into was that none of our polygons were properly connected so we had to redraw our entire map.  Another problem we ran into as the project progressed was getting all the small little details like weapon appearance rates, to work properly.  In the end we succeeded making a map that proved to be a little bit too big, and kept trigger-happy players looking for each other on a huge map.

Heres a picture of the map my partner and I worked on.

Here are the two programs we used for game design.  Marathon Infinity, and Forge.
