The first Marylanders were Paleo-Indians who came more than 10,000 years ago.  These Paleo-Indians came from other parts of North America to hunt great bison and caribou and by about 1,000 B.C, Maryland had more than 8,000 native americans.  These native Americans grew corn, peas, squash, and tobacco.  They also fished and traded with tribes as far as New York and Ohio.  On maps of Maryland you can see names like Potomac, Piscataway, Accokeek, and Choptank reminding the Native Americans that inhabited Maryland.
Maryland started out as a colony when King Charles I promised George Calvert a colony north of Virginia.  George Calvert died before he went to the colony so he left his son to be the second Lord of Baltimore and the first Lord Proprietor of Maryland.  He named his colony " Terra Maria" or Maryland in honor of the king’s wife, Queen Henrietta Maria.
Bolivia has not terminated the indigenous people as other countries in South America have done, and Bolivia contains many cities named reminding their outstanding languages like aymara and quechua.  These indigenous people as well as the Native Americans existed before any white or Spaniard took over their land.  Now these rural people have a majority in Bolivia’s population.  If they would have done this, Bolivia would not have so many problems as they do now with these indigenous people.
