Bolivia is located in central South America,17 00 S, 65 00 W.Bolivia is a landlocked country and is made up of mountain ranges, plains, rain forests, and deserts.It is made up of highlands and lowlands, and temperatures range from hot to cold.Some of the highlands are Sucre, the Altiplano,the Uyuni salt flat, and La Paz.The lowlands,or Amazon basin, takes up more than half of all Bolivia and are mostly swamps and rain forests.Bolivia has the highest airport in the world located in El Alto, Lago Titicaca is the world's highest navigable lake with an elevation of 3,805 m , and Bolivia’s highest point being Nevado Sajama with an elevation of 6,542 m.The size of Bolivia is 1,098,580 sq km.It has 314 municipalities and nine departments(similar to states) and 21 national parks and reserves.The nine departments are Beni,Chuquisaca,Cochabamba,Oruro,Pando,La Paz,Potosi,Santa Cruz,and Tarija.There are three native languages spoken in Bolivia and are all official, Spanish, Quechua, and Aymara.Sucre is the official and legal capital of Bolivia and is a popular tourist site.To give you a vague idea of the size of Bolivia it is fair to say that it is around two and a half times the size of Montana.
