The territory of what is now New York was discovered in 1524 by an
Italian born sailor named Giovanni da Verrazano. Giovanni was
hired by the French to explore this territory, soon enough the Dutch
also "discovered" this area and populated it. The state grew
rapidly with the Dutch and French settlements, and also with some
English conquests here and there. Eventually the state grew to be
what is now today. Compared to Bolivia, New York grew with a lot
more cultural diversity because in Boliva it was just the Spanish who
were here.
