           Tennessee's geography is very diverse. It has a mountainous east,  a hilly central and a flat plains region in the west. Its longitude is 81º 28'W and the latitude is 35ºN to 36º 41'N. It is 120 miles wide and 440 miles long. The states that border Tennessee are kentucky, Virgina, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri, and Arkansas. the great Mississippi River borders the state's western side. The total area of Tennessee is 42,146 square miles, making it 36th largest state. The water area is 926 square miles. Clingmans Dome at 6,643 feet above sea leveis Tennessee's highest point and the Mississippi River at 178 feet is its lowest point. the major rivers are the Tennessee, the Misssippi, he Cumberland, the Clinch, and the Duck. The major lakes are the Kentucky, the Norris, the Chickamauga, the Cherokee, and the Tims Ford Reservoir. Tennessee is separated in six different  se3ctions which are the Blue Ridge, the Appalachian Mountains and Valley Region, the Appalachianb Plateau, the Highland Rim, the Nashville Basin, and the Gulf Coastal Plain. There are 95 counties in Tennessee. The highest tempeture was 113 degrees, Fahrenheit (F) and the lowest tempature was -32 degrees F. The average monthly tempetures range from a high of 91.5 degrees F to a low of 27.8 degrees F. A person can enjoy just about any geogrphic condition in Tennessee.
