In the end the machines catch on that Dr. Forester  has found their biggest weekness, WATER!!! Since the maachines are ultra smart they imediatley change their plans and go and kill doctor forester. All hope for the Human race is lost at that point in time. The aliens kill every living thing on earth and then leave.
