On our C.W.W we went to go visit
the mines in Potosi. The local miners believe that "El Diablo" protects
the mines. They put cocoa leaves around him so that he won't be mad at
them. They believe that if you don't keep "El Diablo" satisfied then he
will get revenge somehow. Yet the conditions of the mines aren't all
that safe. The miners don't have alot of the newer equipment to make
mining easier and safer. Alot of kids lose their parents because of
mining accidents. We could also see a couple of decorated crosses in
the mines to show respect for the ones that had died there.
