| The Gentle Folk knew that it
was far better to change in some manner and avoid the yellow men, than
to do any evil to a living creature. For once they had learned how to
fight, the Gentle Folk would turn against the animals, and the animals
would turn against them. Their Golden Prince therefore
led his people to a vast and beautiful valley. There, he changed them
and himself to
creatures that could not bite nor scratch, or do any harm: guanacos. |
